Your Vegan USA Fast Food Guide

I have never been a fast food enthusiast but every now then, I need the convenience of a drive thru.

It is hard to find vegan items to eat at these establishments but that does not mean we have to go hungry.

I compiled a list of vegan menu items of some of the most popular fast food joints in the USA:

Taco Bell

  • Order anything “fresco” style. This will replace all the creamy sauces, cheese, and sour cream with pico de gallo (fresh salsa).
  • Ask for potatoes or beans as a meat replacement!
  • Cinnamon twists are vegan — you’re welcome.

Jack in the Box

  • Potato wedges
  • Hash brown
  • Curly fries
  • Teriyaki bowl with no meat and extra veggies!

  • Pizza — (their crust is vegan already!) Order without cheese or meat, opt for the tomato-based pizza sauce, add on a bunch of extra toppings!
  • Penne Pasta (no sauce and in a Bowl)
  • Mediterran veggie sandwich (no cheese)

El Pollo Loco

  • Tostada salad (ask for avo instead of chicken/no sauce or cheese)
  • Pollo Bowl (avo instead of chicken) with fresh salsa!
  • BRC burrito (again — avo instead of cheese)

Carl’s Jr.

  • Beyond Burger without cheese/mayo– (I love them for this).
  • Rice, beans and chips platter
  • French fries
  • Hash browns
  • Side of pinto beans without cheese


  • Veggie sandwich with hearty Italian, Italian, or sourdough bread. My sandwich of choice includes tomatoes, olives, pickles, pepper chinis, spinach, pickles, lettuce, salt and pepper, oil and vinegar.
  • Sunchips, Oven baked lays
  • Apple slices


  • Black beans
  • Sofritas
  • Fajita vegetables
  • Tortola chips
  • Cilantro lime rice (white/brown)
  • Fresh tomato salsa

  • My typical order is black beans, brown rice, lettuce, fresh tomato salsa, and guacamole.
